The trees do seem to grieve for the loss of their leaves. x

Perfectly described. The only book of his I ever read was The Witches of Eastwick which was rather good.

I like that Bushka, it reminds me of a poem that I read at school, I believe that it was called November, about, No this and No that, it was really all about the fog and being unable to see anything, fog we had a lot of in those days, probably smog.

I think this is the one....by Thomas Hood!
No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon -
No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

Lovely! I'm picking rocks from the field with gloves on these days ... to add to my labrinth.

Me too - makes me think of the black tracery of naked trees silhouetted agains the soft grey of the skies

It's incredible how, when one dares to look a little more attentively one becomes aware of that added loveliness! Often quite profound....

That is great. I have two books by Updike at home, but I have not ever read it.
